Care & Approach
How is EHCC different from an agency or casual caregiving?
We are a small, values-based collective focused on consistency, relationships, and care that honours the whole person.
Are caregivers trained?
Yes. Caregivers receive onboarding, ongoing learning, and one-to-one mentorship to ensure care is safe, respectful, and within scope.
Will we have the same caregiver each time?
We prioritize consistency whenever possible, while also being transparent if changes are needed.
Pricing & Practical Details
How does pricing work?
Care is billed at an hourly rate per family. Rates are shared clearly before care begins.
Is shared care available?
Yes. When multiple families share care at the same time, the hourly rate per family may be reduced, as long as caregiver capacity is respected. See our Share Care FAQs here.
Do you accept government-funded respite care?
We can support families using approved respite funding programs, such as SSAH/MyDirectPlan, when arrangements are in place.
Policies & Boundaries
What types of tasks are outside your scope?
We do not provide medical care, handle finances, perform home repairs, or use heavy machinery or power tools.
Do you provide medication support or personal care?
We may offer medication reminders and limited personal support within clear boundaries, but we do not administer medication or provide medical care.

Shared Care for Kidcare
What is shared care?
Shared care refers to an arrangement where more than one family receives care at the same time, such as children being cared for together in one home or in the community.
How does pricing work for shared care?
Our standard hourly rate is set per family. In some shared-care situations, adjusted pricing may be available when care remains within the caregiver’s capacity and all families agree to the arrangement.
Does shared care mean only one child per family?
Not necessarily. Shared care may include more than one child per family, as long as the total number of children and their needs remain manageable and appropriate for one caregiver.
Is shared care always available?
No. Shared care depends on factors such as the ages of the children, their needs, the setting, and the caregiver’s capacity. Not all situations are suitable for shared care.
How do we know if shared care is a good fit for our family?
We’re happy to discuss shared-care options during the intake process. Together, we’ll consider safety, comfort, routines, and what will work best for everyone involved.
